8 Ways to fall in love again with your home again this new year!
December 29, 2017
The start of a new year is a time for endless possibilities and a new beginning. After all the holiday decorations come down, and the temperature continues to drops along with the leaves, it can be easy to grow bored with your home. So what better time than now to reignite the spark! Here are eight ways to fall in love with your home again while heading into 2018!
- Declutter and Organize.
When in doubt organize! From you kitchen counters and cabinets to your book shelf or entertainment stand, making sure things are in the correct and efficient place will make you feel much better about your home.
- Clean with purpose.
Through out the year we typically clean as maintenance, it’s something that has to be done. It’s basically a chore. Instead, try focusing on why you want a clean home. Whether it’s to make it more inviting to guests or making sure your family is in a healthy and spotless home, cleaning with a purpose is much more motivating than cleaning to mark it off of a chore list.
- Be A Blessing.
After you’ve cleaned and organized, the next step is to donate! There are plenty of charitable organizations around the CSRA that are willing to take all types of donations. Not to mention it feels pretty awesome to give back! If you don’t need it, use it or love it, just let it go!
- Release your inner artist.
Painting is an inexpensive way to fall in love with your home again. One accent wall can make all the difference and can double as a family DIY project.
- Switch it up. Change it around.
Is there a new comforter set that you think will look amazing in your bedroom? What about a new set of towels? What if you rearranged the furniture one weekend? All of these things can bring a fresh feeling to your home. Switch it up, keep it interesting.
- Candles and Incense.
A few good candles or incense can go a along way! Eliminate the stuffy feeling from a room by simply adding a candle and turning on a fan.
- Add paint or plants to your exterior.
When looking at the outside of your home do you feel like there’s something missing? Does it give you a blah type of feeling? Try painting your front door, planting a few flowers or even adding wind chimes to your porch. Little things like these will make you smile while driving up to your home.
- Relax A Little.
Find a place in your home that has great natural light and just relax. You can also step outside on your porch and just admire your home. Once you minimize the things in your home that are stressing you, you’ll be able to appreciate those moments of peace that much more.
