There's no denying that our town is growing with so many new residents here for hospitals, universities, Fort Gordon, Plant Vogtle - and the list goes on. This article is for anyone that might be new in town and wants to know what Augusta gets up to around Christmas. If you have family visiting, here is a list of holiday activities to check out with links to the websites and associated prices. Events may be added to this list throughout the month of December. Christmas Lights and DecorationsLights of the South in Grovetown, GA - $12 for Adults

Wednesday Dec. 3 - Dec. 17 7pm At the Dupont Planetarium in Aiken, S.C. narrated by Noah Adams, host of National Public Radio's "All Things Considered". A spectacular show, tracing the development of many of the world's endearing holiday customs, and how they light up the winter season. They portray everything from the burning Yule log and sparkling Christmas tree lights to the lighting of the Menorah and luminaries.

Thursday, Dec. 8 from 6pm to 8 pm In downtown Aiken, lights line the streets and shops stay open late to offer holiday treats, drinks and music for a festive evening out. Carpenter's Christmas - $39.50 Thursday, Dec. 8 7PM “Merry Christmas Darling: Carpenters’ Christmas” is a concert show celebrating the biggest hits of one of the most successful recording acts of all time. Columbia County Christmas Village AND Country Christmas Concert - Free Friday, Dec. 9 6pm to 9pm Enjoy music by RedHead Express, hot food, cold drinks from Tip Top Taps, s'mores roasting and sledding. Heated tents, blankets, and hand warmers will be available on site. SantaCon Augusta - $15 dollar donation Friday, Dec. 9 4pm to Midnight Downtown Augusta; must be 21 years old; holiday-themed pub crawl; dress as Santa, elves, reindeer, snowmen. 21 and up. Head to Metro Coffee House to pick up your passport for the event.
A Walking tour of over 100 unique nativity scenes displayed throughout the church will remind you of the true meaning of Christmas and the peace and joy this holy season brings. Christmas crafts and baked goods will be available for purchase. Admission is free but donations greatly appreciated.
Holidays in Old Hollywood - Free Dec. 10 - 18 6pm to 8pm In Aiken, SC grab a drink and some food and enjoy a night of old hollywood fun. Drawing on his time playing in the Legendary Pickfair Mansion and her time performing events at the Historic Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, pianist John Vaughn and vocalist Brooke Lundy have teamed up to fill the Willcox with the sounds of standards, swinging holiday favorites and sing alongs.Home for the Holidays Symphony Concert - $30 - $45 Sunday Dec. 11 3pm to 5pm An afternoon of magical holiday favorites will be performed by the Aiken Symphony Orchestra. A perfect opportunity to bring the family, especially the kids! Many classics will surely entertain guests of all ages as well as some lesser-known pieces. Teddy Bear Brunch - Brunch buffet is $21.99 Sunday, Dec. 11 & Dec. 18 11am to 2pm The Partridge Inn partners with the Children’s Hospital of Georgia to bring holiday cheer to local hospitalized children during the Teddy Bear Brunch. On Sunday December 11 and 18, guests who attend the P.I. Bar & Grill’s Teddy Bear brunch are encouraged to bring a teddy bear to donate to the Children’s Hospital of Georgia. An added incentive: children 12 and under who donate a teddy bear will receive a complimentary meal.
Christmas Day Brunch - $39.99 per person Sunday, Dec. 25 11am to 3pm Join The Partridge Inn for a Christmas Day brunch buffet to celebrate the holiday season. The buffet offers a variety of selections including omelets, waffles, apple-smoked bacon, stone ground grits and roasted turkey sausage, a carving station featuring herb-crusted ribeye and roasted pork steamship and many holiday-themed sides.
